 Our Mission

The New England Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc. is dedicated to economically empowering and sustaining the African American communities through entrepreneurship and collaborative activities within New England.

Our History

The New England Black Chamber of Commerce, Inc., was founded in an effort to enhance the economic infrastructure that supports the development  of businesses that impact the black community. Micro enterprises and Small Businesses are the key to transforming the economic condition of the community.
This reality is even graver in the black community.

Springfield, Massachusetts has been challenged with economic blight and despair. The opportunity to start a small business is a dream that has been realized by many. This mixed blessing brings a great deal of challenges and responsibilities that are often overwhelming by the entrepreneur. The coalescence of community to invest in the success of the entrepreneur is consistent with the community of yesteryear. The start was Springfield but the impact of the collaborative energy of all the New England States will create strength that can transform the region.

The New England Black Chamber of Commerce is a non profit organization, established in 2002 as a commonwealth of Massachusetts corporation. This is a vehicle to support small businesses to develop a network of support committed to growing the economic strength of the individual businesses and subsequently the community.

The New England Black Chamber of Commerce is created in much the same tradition of the standard chamber. The intent to create a vehicle that develops a collaborative force strengthening each member by coordinating resources and developing a unified force with a common mission. While businesses have some common goals such as minimizing costs to maximize profits, those in support of the black community have to be mindful of the community impact on the decisions made, creating a community service conscience.

Many of the institutional supports that have been available to typical chambers have not been accessible to members of the black community. The communal support and the pride that has been historic in the black community must be transformed in this area to create economic power, political savvy and strategic allegiances that will transform the micro businesses in the community to economic drivers.

The NEBCC is a technical business advisor, strategic planner and bridge builder. The goals continue to be building relationships and providing skills and education that increase capacity, enhance resources and create economic impact.
